Behind the Sun (Portuguese: Abril Despedaçado) is a 2001 Brazilian film directed by Walter Salles, produced by Arthur Cohn, starring Rodrigo Santoro. Its original Portugese title means Broken April, and it is based on the novel of that name by Ismail Kadare.

It is the year 1910. A family feud in the Brazilian desert leads to ongoing bloodshed over a land dispute. A father orders his son to avenge the murder of his older brother. How will the young man deal with the inescapable cycle of violence?
