Belbase

Belbasé / Belbase is a surname from the hilly regions of central Nepal. Kumar Belbasé was one of the founding members of the Marxist-Leninist Party of Nepal. The origin of the name appears to come from a village called "Bel Bas" which roughly translates as "Place of Rest (or overnight stay) under a Bel tree".Belbase is a place in Peuthan District of Nepal. The migrants from Belbas became Belbase. They have their family god "Dudhe Mosta" and they belong to "Madhu Kalya Gotra". Shashidhar Belbase is an emerging researcher in educational field in Nepal specially in Pedagogy of Teaching Mathematics. According to him, Belbases are migrants from Siddhara village of Arghakhachi District of western Nepal though they might have come from Belbas of Pyuthan to that place about some hundreds of years. Dr. Lekh Nath Belbase is an prominent personality and well known for his research among Belbases.
