Belgrave Ninnis was an Australian explorer. Particularly famous for his last expedition with Sir Douglas Mawson and Xavier Mertz in 1912. These three set out on an 800km trek around Antarctica. Ninnis fell down a crevasse and died. Mawson and Mertz travelled on Mertz died of sickness and Mawson continued on the journey he reached the winter quarters and lived.It was most unfortunent for Xavier Mertz and Belgrave Ninnis.
