Ben Harvey

Ben Harvey is an American radio and TV host, most well-known for his popular evening radio show on (the now defunct) 92.3 K-Rock in New York City. He is now a host for here!, the premium gay & lesbian television channel.
Early in his career, Harvey worked at WBRU, Brown University’s commercial alternative rock station, where he started as a DJ at the age of nineteen. Fellow notable alumni include Chris Berman, anchor, ESPN and ABC Sports; Stephen Hill, executive VP of programming at BET; and Alison Stewart, daytime anchor for MSNBC and former VJ for MTV.
Harvey’s first major-market radio stint was at the (the now defunct) Y100 in Philadelphia, where he worked the evening shift starting in 2001. His show was known for its bedroom broadcasts, in which he broadcast live from listener homes. He also banned the American rock band Creed from his show in 2002, declaring his show a “Creed-free zone.”
In 2003, Harvey joined 92.3 K-Rock (WXRK) in New York City, where he worked the prime-time evening slot. During this period he was known for his feud with the American rock band The Strokes, with whom Harvey had an altercation at K-Rock’s annual "Dysfunctional Family Picnic." The segment "Stump the Stoner" gained popularity on Harvey's show, a game in which callers called up stoned and answered questions to win prizes.
When K-Rock flipped formats to become Free-FM (WFNY-FM) in 2005, Harvey left the station. Since then he has been a correspondent on Radio with a twist, the nationally syndicated gay & lesbian radio show. He is currently a TV host for here! networks, where he also hosts a popular podcast show with the cast of here!’s series “Dante's Cove.”
Harvey is openly gay.
