[edit] Biography
Benjamin, who is the second oldest sibling among six others in his family, began acting after working as a personal trainer, and after making a name for himself as the winner of the Mr. New Zealand competition in 1999, moved from Hamilton to Auckland. After making movies with his friends in his Auckland flat, he soon discovered that acting was where his passion lay, and he promptly hired an agent in search of roles.
Following a break into theatre with Othello which opened him up to the craft, Ben's first television acting role was a reporter in Shortland Street in 2000, and that role was followed by roles in New Zealand drama The Strip, Power Rangers, Interrogation, and Outrageous Fortune. At the end of 2005, Benjamin joined the cast of Shortland Street to play handsome young doctor TK Samuels, and since then, he has gained much popularity, particularly as a sex symbol with female viewers.
As well as acting, Benjamin has a passion for languages and is a fluent speaker of Te Reo Maori which is his second language. In 2006 Benjamin lent his support to Maori Language Week. He also enjoys working out at the gym and participating in any outdoor activities.[1] [2]
