Bhool Bhulaiya is the Hindi language remake of the critically acclaimed 1993 Malayalam blockbuster, Manichitrathazhu (which was also remade in Tamil/Telugu - Chandramukhi, 2005; Kannada - Aaptamitra). The film will feature Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja and Amisha Patel in pivotal roles with Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav in supporting roles. Pritam will score the music whilst S. Theeru and N. Gopalakrishnan handle the cinematography and editing of the film, respectively. Vidya Balan will be seen playing a Kathak dancer who suffers from split personality.
Bhool Bhulaiya tells the story of a young couple arriving at the ancestral mansion. Ignoring the protests of their superstitious uncle, they move in to mansion, when unusual and supernatural events begin to happen. The couple's close friend, a psychiatrist is called in to investigate.
The film is scheduled to begin shooting on February 18, 2007 for a 41 day schedule at Jaipur, India with a release date yet to be announced.
