Billy Platt

Billy Platt was a character in the British soap opera Coronation Street. He appeared very briefly in June 2004.
He was the son of Sarah-Louise Platt and Todd Grimshaw. He was conceived in December 2003, while his parents were in a relationship. At the time of his birth, his mother was 17 and his grandmother, Gail, had wanted Sarah to have an abortion and Sarah seriously considered terminating the pregnancy which infuriated Todd, but at his insistence that they would always be together she decided to go ahead with the pregnancy.
In the months prior to his birth, Todd met a man named Karl Foster whilst working and, after a period of time, a sexual relationship between the two began. Sarah was unaware and planned for a life with Todd, Billy and her daughter Bethany, from a previous relationship, who todd treated like his own daughter.
Todd confessed to Sarah on May 24th 2004, which led her to immediately end the relationship and to move back in with Gail. After several extremely stressful days in an already difficult pregnancy, Sarah went into labour on June 1st 2004, whilst working at Roy's Rolls. She was rushed to hospital by Todd's mother, Eileen, in a taxi. After being examined by a doctor, it was found that Sarah was suffering from heavy internal bleeding in the womb. After she experienced a massive haemorrhage, an emergency caesarean section was performed.
Billy Platt was born on June 1st 2004, 9 weeks premature. In the hours after his birth, his mother refused to see Billy because of him being a reminder of Todd's betrayal. She eventually visited him just minutes before he died on June 2nd 2004. Todd never saw his son alive and was advised to stay away during the funeral at which he showed up, and it looked like Sarah had forgiven him when she handed him ground to spreed on the Coffin but a couple of days later when he tried to give Bethany a present for her Fourth birthday Sarah told him to stay away from her and Bethany and he decided to abide by her wishes.
Billy was buried and his grave has been visited several times by his mother since his death and his step-grandfather Martin Platt bought a headstone for his grave.
