I made some corrections. The word "and" is not capitalized in a title unless it's the first or last word. Also it's "Bill Haley with Haley's Comets" not "Bill Haley's" with Haley's Comets. I removed the label name information as that's not really necessary for this part of the list. Also at no time in his life did Rudy Pompilli ever use the spelling Rudi on his first name. 23skidoo 18:13, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rock the joint / New rock the joint

I told you a few days ago this song firstly appeared as "Rock..." then issued in stereo as "New rock..." on a DECCA E.P.: want to get the reference? :-) Stephan KŒNIG 17:25, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

I just spoke to a friend who has the original MONO single: it was released as "New Rock the Joint". 23skidoo 12:44, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

The mono version was only called "Rock the joint", then renamed as New rock the joint for the stereo version only! I'm sure your friend has no good ears :-)

planned concerts such as a fall 1980 tour of Germany, and proposed recording sessions in New York and Memphis were cancelled: Bill was signed again for a new concert in Liège in 1980 but died not long before... Stephan KŒNIG

No one knew about that fact: "R U D O L P H" "P O M P I L L I I" americanized his first name in "Rudy" (and written a little bit before as "Rudi" (DECCA Session 22nd.09.1955) OK? :-)"Rudi" was taken from the Bear Family annotations on the booklet (Decca Sessions, Sept. 22, 1955 then the used spelling of the Decca Sessions on March 12, 1956 was "Rudy") inside the 5 LP box set issued in 1981. Anyway, the ypsilon did not/still doesn't exist in Italian and the "X" and the "W" as well...

No, he was born Rudolph Clement Pompilii and Haley asked him to change the spelling to Pompilli because it would look like a printer's error. He was never known as "Rudi". Chris Gardner??? : a website full of mispellings (or mistypings???) "Stocking" instead of "Stockin'", I'm gonna dry every tear...instead of ev'ry, Ten gallon Stetson (With a hole in the crown): completely fanciful title!!! and so on...Deal me a hand I play the game anyway???

Chris Gardner has responded to your comments at Talk:Bill Haley. Please don't try to convince me that Pompilli's first name was spelled anything other than Rudy or Rudolph. I've seen his funeral notice and Chris got his spelling directly from Rudy's birth certificate. So there is confirmation from both ends of the man's life. 23skidoo 22:04, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

The Whisky a go go LP was released under the name Bill Haley and His Comets (Mr. Go Go/live) then issued in the UK on EMBER in 1969. Not 1968!!!

DIM is Dimsa, while Maya was a reissue label. Haley never actually recorded for either; they just re-released recordings made for Orfeon (and also Decca and Sonet). If we were to list all the re-issue labels, there would be hundreds. 23skidoo 13:16, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

If anyone with this on their watchlist has heard any news reports that John "Bam-Bam" Lane died on Feb. 18 (he ran one of the post-Haley editions of the Comets), please note it here. I'm seeking confirmation of this news before I put it into the article. 23skidoo 19:54, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
