Blackwood railway station, Adelaide
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Blackwood railway station is a railway station on the Belair railway line in South Australia. It is located in the Adelaide southern foothills suburbs of Blackwood and Hawthorndene. It is located 18.1km by railway from the Adelaide Railway Station.
It is one of the busiest stations on the Belair line. This is one of two stations of the Belair line between Goodwood and Belair to have more than one platform in use. Other stations have had platforms closed due to a conversion of one track to standard gauge (Adelaide suburban trains run on broad gauge tracks). Blackwood station has a bus interchange with connection available with the following bus routes: 194, 194H, 195 - 198, 728, 729, 738, 739 (recently, Adelaide Metro has changed bus routes for Blackwood and the Southern Suburbs). This allows buses and trains from and going to the city to connect with buses serving the local foothills region. It is also the only railway station on the Belair line to have a café on the station premises.
