BlameShift
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
BlameShift is an unsigned five-piece hard rock/post hardcore band from Long Island, New York. The band was formed in 2003, and after undergoing several lineup changes, they released their debut album, Drop Down, with lead guitarist Danny Leto and bassist Dave Kaplan in July 2005 for Can't Stop Records. The album's release coincided with the band's summer 2005 tour which took them up and down the east coast from Massachusetts to Tennessee. Since then, BlameShift has been building momentum and receiving positive reviews for their unique sound and energetic live shows. December 2005 saw the band embarking on their second national tour, playing a month's worth of shows in Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, and Ohio. Before leaving, the band decided that no one would be allowed to cut their hair until after the tour, leading to the title "No Haircut Tour 2005-2006." Upon returning, BlameShift recorded and released two new singles, "Dead and Breathing" and "Be Careful What You Wish For," showcasing their growing ability to write driving, catchy music. They replaced Dave Kaplan with bassist Joe Meyer and embarked on their third tour in mid-June, 2006, playing a number of dates in the midwest as well as the southeast culminating with dates on the Warped Tour in Pittsburgh, PA and Englishtown, NJ. Following the tour, the band wrote material for a new album. Guitarist Danny Leto left the band just prior to the recording of their new album in December, 2006.
