Blind-casting

Blind-casting is a form of casting in which the producers of a movie or television show do not predetermine the race of any of the characters; instead, the producers choose the actor or actress they think is best suited for the job, regardless of race. Grey's Anatomy is one notable show that has employed this technique.
It was also used in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella starring Brandy.
