Blinn College
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Blinn College is a two-year academic institution based in Brenham with campuses in Brenham, Bryan, Schulenburg, and Sealy.
The school was founded in 1883 by the Southern German Conference of the Methodist denomination under the name of Mission Institution. In 1889 the name was changed to Blinn Memorial College in honor of the Reverend Christian Blinn of New York, who had donated a considerable sum of money to make the school possible. Blinn College was made coeducational in 1888. The college continues to operate as one of the largest of 50 public college districts in the State of Texas.
Many Blinn students transfer to four-year universities such as Texas A&M University after their second year, and Texas A&M students sometimes take courses at Blinn for transfer credit.
Chris Andersen, formerly of the New Orleans Hornets, attended this college before entering the NBA.
