Boggan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Boggans are one of the common kiths in Changeling The Dreaming a role playing game by White Wolf Game Studios. Boggans are very similar in appearance and attitude to Hobbits, but the kith as a whole is based on legends of boggarts and brownies, helpful or malign household spirits. They can happy helping types, or selfish rumor mongers and schemers. Boggans are born of dreams of the comforts of home and hearth, and dreams of labour and reward. They prefer comfort over fancy things and tend to be plump and short with bushy hair and eyebrows.
[edit] Advantages/Disadvantages
All of the kiths have their own advantages called Birthrights and the advantages of Boggans include craftwork and social dynamics. Boggans can work in hands on crafts in one third of normal time as long as they are alone and undisturbed. Boggans also have strong social advantages in empathy related issues.
The flaw, or Frailty of Boggans is that they must help those in need. (It should be mentioned that there is some contention among Changeling players as to what constitutes "in need," but most interpret it to mean someone who truly needs help, and not trivial matters such as serving drinks or tying shoelaces)
[edit] Trivia
- Boggans are the only kith of the original, basic list of Changeling The Dreaming kiths to not be featured in a kithbook. There is a fan-made kithbook devoted to them at this website, but it remains non-canonical: Boggan
