Bole (color)

Bole is a color that is a symbolic representation of the color of the trunk of a tree. The world English bole means the trunk of a tree.

The color bole is displayed at right.
This color represents the color of a bole (the trunk of a tree).
Bole is one of the oldest color names in English. The first recorded use of bole as a color name in English was in the year 1386. [1]
It is interesting to note that even though the actual trunks of most trees are a lighter shade of brown than this, when given a set of paints that includes various shades of brown to children to make their "lollypop" like paintings of a tree, they seem to instinctively choose this color to paint the trunk of the tree.
