[edit] Overview
The warlord Borias plunders many cities and villages in ancient Greece alongside Xena. He falls in love with Xena, (though her feelings for him seem more like unattached amusement, rather than love) and she becomes pregnant.[1] She cuts her ties to the warlord after he betrays her, when he defends the Centaurs against her reckless cruelty.[2] Borias later comes for Xena, who is about to give birth. He plans to take her and his child away, but is killed before he can carry out his plan.[2]
[edit] Character history
[edit] Borias meets Xena
When Borias first meets Xena, she is able to seduce him away from his wife and child, and even away from his army.[1] She persuades him to form their own army and set off to conquer Asia. Borias meets Xena during the most destructive period of her life. While Borias has a calming influence on Xena, he is not able to control her wild urges altogther.[3]
[edit] Journey to Chin
Borias and Xena leave Greece and head east across the mongolian steppes, slaughtering anyone who stands in their way. Upon their arrival in Chin, Borias set about securing an alliances with two wealthy Chinese houses, the houses of Ming and Lao.[4] Xena ruins his plans by kidnapping Ming T'ien the son of Ming Tzu, the head of the house of Ming. With this act Borias betrays Xena to Ming Tzu, and gives her over to him in exchange for money and horses.[4] For a time this sees an end to the alliance between Xena and Borias.[3]
[edit] Alti and the Amazons
Some time later Xena and Borias unite once again, and join forces with Alti.[5] Alti tells Xena she will make her the Destroyer of Nations. The Amazon queen Cyane, sees the good in Borias and tells Xena, "He’s trying to change, Xena. Let him. If you two stay together, you're just gonna end up killing him."[6] The prospect of becoming a father causes Borias to seek peace in his life, and he protects Otere's baby from Alti and Xena, who plan on killing it. Borias tries to forge peace with the Amazons, but Xena betrays them and kills all of Cyane's tribe.[3]
[edit] Borias and the Centaurs
When Xena plans to lead an attack on the Centaurs, Borias, unable to tame Xena's violent ways, breaks away from her for the last time.[2] She turns on him, but he doesn't turn his back on her because of their child.[3] He pleads with her to go with him saying, "Before Alti, before all this, we had love, Xena. Maybe we confused it with power, but it was there, is still there. For the sake of our son, and us, I'm taking you away."[7] He then tries to rescue her, and his child, from the army camp where she is planning her attack on the Centaurs, but just as he sees his new-born son, he is killed by Xena's lieutenant, Dagnine and a slave woman.[2][3]
