Isn't there also a slang meaning to the term bougainvilla?

Will bougainvillea grow in New Mexico?
[edit] bougainvilla thorns
Are there any poision propeties in a bougainvilla thorn? I stepped on one recently and my foot sems to be infected.
A scratch or light puncture will normally bleed - which removes the irritant; so let it bleed. But stepping on a thorn jams it deeper; it might not bleed so treat it as an infection (topical antibiotic) FOR A DAY OR TWO. Then consult Doctor if it is still painful. --68.56.179.145 15:21, 6 July 2006 (UTC)R.Weigler in Florida
[edit] Treatment of bougainvillea in winter.
I have some bougainvillea bushes around my house in Southern Louisiana. The leaves grow black and fall off when we get cold snaps. Should I prune them or cover them to protect them in winter? They are fairly large shrubs, about 2meters wide and 1.5 meters tall (on average). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.228.9.3 (talk) 19:49, 7 December 2006 (UTC).
