Bow Waters Jackrabbits is a cross-country ski club, run by volunteers, located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Bow Waters Jackrabbits is a Member of Cross Country Canada (CCC). The club follows CCC's Jackrabbit Ski League Program, named for the legendary Herman “Jackrabbit” Smith-Johanssen. This program teaches basic cross-country ski skills, both classic and skating, and encourages lifelong participation in the sport. The club's first season was in the winter of 1991/1992.
Bow Waters Jackrabbits runs a 10 lesson program on Sunday mornings, from December to March, for skiers aged 4 to 17. Lessons are taught by volunteer parents who are encouraged to improve their teaching and skiing skills through CANSI (Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors) courses.
Classic technique lessons are typically held in Kananaskis Country, at the Pocaterra Hut, or at the Peter Lougheed Visitor Centre. Skatinglessons take place most often, at the Canmore Nordic Centre, in Canmore, Alberta.
