Boxborough is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA. The population was 4,868 at the 2000 census, although it had risen to 5,377 by June 2005. The town name is often spelled Boxboro, on highway signs and official documents. However, the correct spelling is, in fact, Boxborough.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 27.0 km² (10.4 mi²). 26.8 km² (10.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (0.48%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 4,868 people, 1,853 households, and 1,271 families residing in the town. The population density was 181.4/km² (469.7/mi²). There were 1,906 housing units at an average density of 71.0/km² (183.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 88.82% White, 0.33% African American, 0.02% Native American, 8.48% Asian, 0.37% from other races, and 1.97% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.13% of the population.
There were 1,853 households out of which 42.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.2% were married couples living together, 5.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.4% were non-families. 25.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.25.
In the town the population was spread out with 30.5% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 34.3% from 25 to 44, 25.3% from 45 to 64, and 4.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 104.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.0 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $87,618, and the median income for a family was $110,572. Males had a median income of $72,414 versus $47,008 for females. The per capita income for the town was $40,794. About 1.5% of families and 2.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.8% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.

Boxborough has one elementary school, named Blanchard Memorial School. Junior High (7-8) and High School students (9-12) attend school in the neighboring town of Acton. See the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. These post-elementary schools are administered by the regional school district, serving Acton and Boxborough.
