Bradford Laperouse

Bradford Laperouse is a famous member of the post-civil was era, and he is from the Kaplan, Louisiana area. His claim to fame is his construction of a railroad from New Orleans to Houston which included Kaplan on it's path. Though Laperouse is rather insignificant to the United States as a whole, he is the reason why Kaplan is still a town today. Laperouse was a member of the Louisiana Republican Party, and a strong supporter of President Abraham Lincoln.
