Branan Field-Chaffee Expressway SR 23 is a Future Expressway Connecting the Westside & Marietta , to Orange Park , Arygle & Middleburg & be a major stepping stone for the devloplement of the outer Westside & Arygle , Middleburg & Marrietta & by having these communties work together with the fact this project is going through two counties .
The Expressway will be built slightly west of the current Chaffee rd Route . until the intersection with 103rd Street and south from there is all part of the current State Road 23 , Branan Field Rd in Clay County , But Chaffee Rd north of of 103rd is not part of State Road 23 . But State Road 23 will extend from Blanding Blvd SR 21 to W. Beaver U.S. 90/SR 10 when the Expressway is finished .
The Expressway in it's current production is in 10 segments , but has a future concept for a replacement of the Shand Bridge SR 16, but it is unknown exactly at what point of the river the Bridge will be built , And as for it's Cross town counterpart , SR 9B is under planning right now as it's supposed to connect Baymadows Area of SR 9A down to (I-95) near Bayard & future town of nocotee . When 9B is done it is supposed to be signed (I-795) , but it's unknown if
I-795 will be the signing for BFC-Expressway/Sr 23 also , for the fact odd numbers are spurs . or if it will become a (I-10) Spur because (I-110) is the only one in the whole state of Florida ,

SR 23 was originally going to be built as a toll road by the Florida's Turnpike Authority, It was Supposed to be a Freeway thats connected Jacksonville to Tampa , or at least Ocala to make a Expressway of sometype from Jacksonville to Tampa , even if it involved I- 75 & a New Florida Turnpike. but those plans fell through.
J.T.A. , & Clay County, Worked together to connect the Clay County (Branan Field Road) & (Chaffee Road) of Duval County . The plans for Connecting 1-10 to Blanding Blvd go all the way back to 1979.
