Brandon Colόn

Brandon Luis Colόn (born March 11, 1985) is an American football quarterback. He currently attends Bates College, where he is most noted for receiving the post season honor of NESCAC Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2004. In that same year Colόn led Bates College to a 28-7 win over Wesleyan University, snapping a 17-game losing streak to the Cardinals. Bates' last victory over Wesleyan came in 1982.

Born in Lowell, MA to Suzanne and Luis Colόn. The Colόn family moved to Manchester, NH in 1995. He would then attend Manchester High School West where he would begin his athletic career in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Throughout his high school career he would receive 8 varsiy letters. He was also a two-time Division 1 All-State selection, including First-Team All-State Quarterback in his senior season. He led Manchester High School West to 4 straight City Championship games, the annual Manchester Turkey Bowl, slating the two best teams in Manchester, NH to face off at Gill Stadium. During his career at Manchester High School West he would set virtually every passing record, including 4 touchdown passes against inner-city rival Trinity High School (Manchester) as well as passing yards in a game (325) and completions (24) against division foe Concord High School (New Hampshire). At the completion of his high school athletic career he would be selected to the covetted New Hampshire Shrine Football team, which annually faces the best high school football players from New Hampshire to play their Vermont rivals in a charitable game to raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Colόn led New Hampshire to a 37-3 victory over Vermont while earning player of the games honors going 9 for 11 with 135 yards and a touchdown. He would then take his services to Northfield Mount Hermon School, where he enrolled in their postgraduate program. While attending Northfield Mount Hermon School he would start at quarterback for legendary coach Mike Atkins. He would pass for more than 1200 yards and 13 touchdowns in the 8 games he played at Northfield Mount Hermon School. At the conclusion of his postgraduated football season he was awarded the Francis X. Keating Award, given to a high school or college football player by the Western Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. The award recognizes an athlete who contributed his maximum to the game despite personal obstacles.

Brandon enrolled at Bates College in the fall of 2004 for his freshman year, where he made an immediate impact on the football field. Colon started the final six games of the season for the Bobcats. He was ranked third among conference quarterbacks with 173 passing yards per game and a 99.6 passer rating. He set the single game completion record in a loss to Colby College, completing 28-of-52 pass attempts for 294 yards. Colon led Bates College to a 28-7 win over Wesleyan University, snapping a 17-game losing streak to the Cardinals. Bates' last victory over Wesleyan came in 1982. At the Conclusion of his freshman season Colon would receive NESCAC Offensive Rookie of the Year as well as the Bates College Garnet Gridder Award, given to the most valuable player on the offensive side of the ball. In his Sophomore season he would rank 8th in the Nescac in total offense, and would set the Bates College single season record for lowest interception percentage by only throwing 5 interceptions in 234 attempts. His Junior season Colon moved up to 5th in the NESCAC in both total offense and passing yards, helping aide the success of two-time All NESCAC wideout Dylan MacNamara. He is now going into his senior season only 14 completions, 113 attempts, and 716 yards shy of eclipsing the Bates College All-time Career records. Colon is currenty attending Bates College
