Brasileodactylus araripensis Kellner, 1984 |
Brasileodactylus is the name assigned to the remains of a pterosaur (flying reptile) from the Lower Santana formation of the Aptian (Early Cretaceous) of Chapada do Araripe, Ceará, Brazil. The type species, B. araripensis, is named from part of a mandible. Other remains named as Brasileodactylus have not been assigned a species. It has been assigned to the Ornithocheiridae. It had long, thin, forward pointing teeth and may have had a short crest, like others of its family.
The name means 'pterosaur (literally, "[wing] finger") from Brasil.'
