From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm Brandon Dilbeck. Some of my favorite things include jelly beans, humor, Pokémon, photography, and the Internet. I'm 19 years (7014 days) old. I reside in and have grown up in Lynnwood, Washington (a cold, rainy place with a lot of strip malls), but was born in Mission, Kansas. We moved from there when I was four years old, and I love it here near Seattle and would only move away for warmer weather and Sonic restaurants, which we don't have here. I'm attending the University of Washington, which seems to be a nice place. I haven't declared a major yet, but I'm currently interested in statistics; I'll see where I eventually go.
I've been an editor on Wikipedia since January 11, 2006. I have several favorite topics that I tend to hover above, but I also like to copyedit pages that sorely need it. I figure I'm a good copyeditor—I'm a real stickler for grammar—so let me know if you have a rotten stinky article you'd like me to take a look at. I find that the main types of edits I make to articles aren't hugely influential. I've mostly been copyediting articles and tidying up a few templates here and there.
I signed up for the Pokémon Collaborative Project on August 28, 2006; this seems like the perfect kind of project for me because I love the Pokémon games and know just about anything there is to know about them. (Some of my favorite Pokémon, by the way, are Farfetch'd, Grovyle, and Bulbasaur.) I feel that some of my biggest contributions to the project's articles consist of copyediting, but I also like to contribute to discussions within the PCP that can influence the hundreds of Pokémon articles we deal with.
I'm a Wikipedia eventualist, which is weird because I can be one of the most impatient people I know. I think I'm more of an eventualist because I'm still young and can see myself being able to use Wikipedia ten, twenty, maybe even thirty years from now. I wonder how many edits I'll have by then! (But then again, people's edit counts don't represent how good their edits are.) In the past, I joined a group of eventualist inclusionists (I'm also rather inclusionist and hate to see articles go without a fighting chance), but decided I can be what I am without having to add my name to a list, especially because I figured that I wouldn't actually do anything as a member of the group. My supposition is that if we give articles a good, long chance to grow, then they will all become terrific resources and everybody will love Wikipedia.
I have a website, Brandon's Website, where I try to write and collect funny stuff. I've written multiple pages, including a guide of as many Jelly Belly jelly bean flavors as possible, a tally of Sweethearts candy messages, and a count of Halloween costumes. My Animal Crossing Diary seems to be popular too. It's been a while since I made a serious update; I'm concerned that I've stopped caring about it.
