[edit] Plot synopsis
The movie, which draws some of its facts from true life stories, tells the tale of the doctor who pioneered the usage of silicone breast implants. Once he succeed in convincing their supervising surgeon, they find a volunteer to be the first patient. Afterward, the two men gain immense financial success but follow different life paths thereafter.
The story loosely tracks the history of the silicone implant phenomenon from its radical introduction to its incredible popularity through its controversial link to various types of illness and cancer. The story is interspersed with interview snippets of women who have received breast augmentation with varying degrees of success, pleasure and displeasure. The interviews are marked by the fact that they show only the interviewees' nude breasts and torso.
