This bio concerns the former Bishop of Ferns in whose Diocese of Ferns some of the most appalling episodes of sexual abuse perpetrated by Roman Catholic priests on children have been exposed, including all of the 14-year period he was bishop.
The Ferns Report, based on an Inquiry covering the 40 years between 1962 and 2002, was established by the Irish Government, to examine these allegations. The Report was published in October 2005 and the material contained in this bio is based on facts and evidence contained in this Report and other commentary already in the public domain.
