Bridgewater railway station, Adelaide
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bridgewater railway station was a railway station located in the Adelaide Hills suburb of Bridgewater. The station opened in the 1880s and was the terminus of the now defunct Bridgewater line, and consisted of three platforms (all of which are now demolished). The station building was burned down by arsonists in the 1980s, not long before the station was closed. The station closed in 1987, along with suburban services on the route. There is no evidence of the station left, as it was demolished, along with the platforms, possibly in the late 1990s.
Services to Bridgewater were on the metropolitan broad gauge network. Once rail services had stopped beyond Belair, the line was converted to standard gauge along with the rest of the Adelaide-Melbourne line.
