The Brown Hawker (Aeshna grandis) is one of the larger species of hawker dragonfly. The flight period is from June to the end of October.
It is 73 mm long with a brown body and amber wings. The male has blue spots on abdomen segments 2 and 3. This species is highly territorial and will defend its stretch of water against all comers.
