A Buddha is someone who has achieved enlightenment, the most famous and important being Gautama Buddha (often referred to simply as "the Buddha"). Many Buddhists in the Śrāvakayāna, Mahayana, and Vajrayana traditions consider there to be three types of Buddha: Samyaksambuddha (generally referred to simply as "Buddha"), Śrāvakabuddha, and Pratyekabuddha. The Buddha is also identified as Tathagata.
