Bonmahon Village (Irish: Bun Machan) also called Bunmahon Village.
This Waterford Village is a coastal village at the mouth of the River Mahon. Bonmahon/Bunmahon literally means “the end of the Mahon”.
Historically, Bonmahon/Bunmahon was a mining village. Copper was mined here between 1827 and 1877. A history of this activity was published recently, entitled 'The making and breaking of a mining community' by local historian Des Cowman. ISBN No 0-9534538-3-9. Bunmahon lies at the heart of the Copper Coast European Geopark.
