Burfjord

Burfjord is a the capital village of Kvænangen municipality in Norway, housing the municipal council. Burfjord lies on the norther border of Troms County, along the busy E6 roadway winding its way through this part of northern Norway. The services of Burfjord include a bank, a post office, a gas station, a medical office, a nursing home, a dentist, a primary school and grocery shops. The regional ferry, known as the Hurtigruten, makes Burfjord a stop along its coastal travel. Burfjord's residents are comprised of a mix of indigenous Sami (Lapplanders), Kvaener, and other Norwegians. Sami tourist stops selling handicrafts are located several miles in either direction of the town.
