Burney Lamar

Burney Lamar (born August 21, 1980, West Sacramento, California) is a NASCAR driver who began racing go-carts at the age of 5, taught by his father Izzie. Considered by many one of NASCAR's most promising young drivers he was signed as a developmental driver by KHI (Kevin Harvick,Inc) in 2005. He drove the number 33 Chevrolet for Kevin Harvick Incorporated in the 2005 NASCAR West Series, collecting two wins, at Phoenix International Raceway and California Speedway and also drove the #33 KHI car for two Busch Series races in 2005. He moved up to drive the number 77 Dollar General Chevrolet fulltime in the NASCAR Busch Series in 2006. In his first start behind the wheel of the Dollar General car, Lamar finished second at Daytona to his Kevin Harvick, Incorporated teammate, Tony Stewart. On December 27, 2006, he married supermodel Niki Taylor in La Jolla, California after a four-month engagement.
