then bluest eye is one of the most popular novels by toni morrison.the novel starts with a first grade primer of the dick and jane family of the white community who had the reputation of dominating the blacks as slaves.the novel is simply about two black families.morrison's writing is notable for its epic themes,vivid dialogue and the african american characters.for example the bluest eye in which morrison showed that there are two kinds of uglyness.they are real and imagined.this is because some important themes of the novel are:whiteness is considered as beautiful;blacks are internalized with the white culture;blacks are brainwashed by the white culture;and lack of self identity. the matter is how do the blacks internalize with the white culture.after reading the novel we can notice that the main narrator of the novel,claudia who was given a white blueeyed doll as a gift of cristmas by his father, because they believe that white doll is beautiful.so, we can say that whiteness is considered as beauty standard by the black community of that time.then we also find that pecola who is the protagonist of the novel,used to drink an ounce of milk from the shirley tample mug just becauseof in an effortto consume the hallmark beauty of that shirley tample mug.on the other hand,one of the major characters of the novel,maureen is considered beautiful than claudia.but she is not beautiful at all,because she contains a yollwish skin and has a fung-toothwhich specially seen when she smiles.but she is considered as beautiful by the blacks because she is lighter than pecola in skin-colour. furthermore,pauline breedlove who is the mother of the protagonist works for a white family over her daughter pecola and shares the conviction that pecola is ugly.morrison's amniscient narrator givrs us the crucial background of the protagonist's parent along with the narrator's parent.then we can also find in the novel that the boys uf pecola's school ,used to torment her.they do so just because they are hyptonized by the white culture and domination,and they learnt that white is beautiful and blacks are ugly.another charater of the novel ,calls claudia and frieda by two famous white beauty so that they might be seen beautiful by calling them by those names.as a result we can say that they have a lack of the sense of individual identity.thus the blacks are internalize with the white culture. there are some more thames of the novel related with black community and their conconditions,their status in the society,etc.it is also to be noted that the protagonist of the novel is raped by her own father.this also showed that morrison has also used an embittered theme in the novel.
