Calheta (pron. IPA: [kɐ'ʎetɐ]) is a parish in the western part of Madeira. Its parish population is 3,105 and the borough is 11,946. Its area is 115.65 km². It is located W of Santana, W of Machico, and 32 WNW of Funchal. It is linked with a road linking northeast to Santana and southeast to Funchal. It is the western parish in the Madeira Island. The area is famous for its yachts. The sands from the Sahara Desert affects the area with dust clouds.

The main source of industry are agriculture and fishing while a small number of businesses are in the downtown area.

Calheta has a few schools, a few lyceums, a gymnasium, banks, a post office, a small port, beaches and squares or plazas (praças).

For statistical and administrative reasons, it is recognized as Vila da Calheta to avoid confusion with another Calheta in the Azores Islands.

The largest parish in population and area is Arco da Calheta. The second largest parish is Calheta. The smallest parish in population and area as well as the most populated is Paúl do Mar. The leastly populated parish in density is Fajã da Ovelha.

The parish has a population of 1,700 in 2001, its density is 81/km² and the area is 21 km². The parish is flowed with Ribeira da Achada to the west and its valley to the northwest and another stream to the east. The parish includes Ribeira da Achada, Ribeira do Raposo.
