[edit] Scheduled events
OK, I put this on top of the talk page, so everybody is able to see this easily. As the hidden part of the article was too much in the current article I decided to give it it's own spot as a subpage at Calendar of current and future sports events/HS. [edit] Promotion
Hi, I saw you discovered the Current and future sports events calendar, probably because I placed it in the Portal:Current events/Sports. Do you think visible enough the way it is right now, or do you think we should find another way to make it more known under the regular editors of current and future events. Cheers, SportsAddicted | discuss 23:15, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- First, the layout must be improved... 1. The order of events should be reversed, with earlier events on top. 2. Each entry should be shortened to one or max 2 lines. 3. There's no use to the column available/unavailable. If an article exists, it appears as blue link, if not, it's red.
- Second, such detailed list of events may be included in "month in sports" articles, but IMO there's no place for that in "year in sports".--Nitsansh 23:26, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that in the archived documents it would be better to have them in a reversed order. I don't think that would be the way to do it in the current and future calendar. For what I know and see every event is currently existing of 1, max 2 lines, so I don't see what you mean with that? The available/unavailable lay-out can be improved to the way you are saying, but there should still be a link towards another source per event. What do you mean with lists like these should not be placed in year in sports? You were the one adding the list to Category:2007 in sports, all I did was putting the archived ones into the most likely available category, which is Category:2006 in sports. The only other solution I see in that case would be creating a new category where these can be saved in, which is part of the xxxx in sports category. SportsAddicted | discuss 23:58, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- The layout is much better now. If you can avoid the dates being broken to 3 lines, that would be even better. I would suggest to split the list to several sections: Events in progress on top, followed by upcoming events ordered from early to late, followed by completed events ordered from late to early. Actually, If we follow the name of this article, the latter should be removed once they are over.--Nitsansh 15:23, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Also, I would suggest to change the order of columns to dates, event, location, source.--Nitsansh 15:27, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm in a hurry now, but will look at it later, I think your ideas sounds pretty good. The past events disappear and will be archived 8 days after they are finished, just like it's done in the past couple of months. My dates are not broken up into 3 lines, is it because of the size of these columns or is it because of something else? If you can clarify what happens I can have a look at that as well as soon as I'm back. Cheers, SportsAddicted | discuss 16:55, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] update
You might be thinking, when is he going to complete the new layout of this page? Well the main thing is that I don't have much time this week as I'm visiting this event all six days this week which resulted in me being behind on my wikischedule a lot already after just two days of competition, so you can imagine how much I will be behind after all 6 days. Anyways, as soon as I have time, the first priority will be changing the layout of this site, while currently it's the most important to have everything listed, so I can fill in the red links after I changed the layout of this. SportsAddicted | discuss 04:01, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Don't bother to fix the old layout, those events will dissapear in a week or so anyway ...
- I reversed the order of events as I suggested. Now you should add the new events at the bottom of the first section, and move the completed events to the top of the second section.--Nitsansh 04:39, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Looks good, I'll hop in. SportsAddicted | discuss 01:04, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Now that the calendar is split between current, future and past events, I think the icons are useless and may be removed...--Nitsansh 03:53, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Criteria
I must wonder... what criteria do you use for selecting events for this calendar? For example... why the Ashes series Test matches were included, while the India-SA series played simultanously isn't, nor is the NZ-SL ODI series. And the NFL playoff which I happend to be watching now isn't either... (mind you, it's 6AM in my part of the world...)--Nitsansh 04:10, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- What part of the world are you? First of all I don't really understand anything of cricket, which makes it a little bit harder for me to follow and create that sport. Buy I don't really have criteria, I just include most professional or highly ranked events in any sport I can find and try to create articles for most of them. If something isn't included it's because I either did not find it on the websites I'm currently checking for resources. Some sports are not yet included in those I check as the more you add, the harder it will be to keep up, but so far things went pretty well, until......well since I got tickets for this 6-day cycling event :) Anyways, I will still be working on all of these events, unless some website turns out to be not properly showing the results. So, I would say if you find about some event which is not yet in the list. Feel free to include it and :) Cheers, SportsAddicted | discuss 23:48, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- From the time next to your edits I conclude you are from England :) I am from the Netherlands. SportsAddicted | discuss 23:49, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] layout and winners
OK, I'm off now, but will have some time tomorrow as the fifth day only starts in the late afternoon, so I may find some time to work on this. I think we should have the same layout in all three tables (current/future/past). To me the one currently used for the current events looks the best. The past/completed events look the same, but now include winners in some events. I personally don't think they need to be there, as this is a calendar, not a summary of results, we have other articles for that. So if you don't mind I will remove those again tomorrow. SportsAddicted | discuss 01:39, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- In addition, you wanted to have them all on one line right? With these winners the tables have different sizes everywhere and specially those with multiple winners are using too much lines, so I think we should get rid of them, at least in this calendar. SportsAddicted | discuss 01:43, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- I will reconsider the winners column... in some competitions there are multiple winners, so we can't put them all in... if there are one or two names I think it can fit in... after all, this section will soon go to an archive... I like the idea that you can see it at a glance without the need to go to other pages where the info may be hard to find.
- I'm happy you like the layout... this was my suggestion, isn't it? Now only the future events are in the old layout, it will take some time to convert them as well, and once this is done, it would be no problem to add the new entries in the right format.
- BTW... with all the future events in <!-- --> the page is extremely long... wouldn't it be a better idea to put them in a sandbox until it's about time to add them?--Nitsansh 02:29, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- That would be nice indeed, but we have to make sure everyone is able to find it when they'd like to add something to the list of course. I don't really think it will be hard to find the winners as 99% of the Wikilinks will have the winners clearly visible in a matter of time, at least, that's my goal :) SportsAddicted | discuss 09:38, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- OK, lets keep them in, but lets keep it simple. SportsAddicted | discuss 12:34, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Now it's just fine! That's the ultimate layout IMO!!--Nitsansh 03:53, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with that, SportsAddicted | discuss 11:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 2007 Krem's New Year Cycling Classic
I don't find this event in the other website as well. Check the calendar here: [1]--Nitsansh 02:13, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I quit editing this page
I'm afraid I no longer have the time or will to maintain this page on a regular basis. If no one else want to take charge, I suggest to delete this page.--Nitsansh 19:24, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
