Catherine Michelle "Cammi" Granato (born March 25, 1971 in Downers Grove, Illinois) is probably the best-known American female ice hockey player. She is the daughter of Donald and Natalie Granato and was named after two of her mother's sisters, Catherine and Michelle. (Michelle died at age 15 of heart complications.) The family comes from mostly Italian ancestry, although she is also a quarter Polish. She has five siblings, Tony, Christina, Don, Robbie and Joe.
Granato was the captain of the U.S. women's hockey team that won a gold medal in the 1998 Winter Olympics. She is a native of Downers Grove, the younger sister of former NHL player Tony Granato, and a graduate of Providence College. Granato played hockey for Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, until CIAU added more restrictive rules on non-Canadians. She lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and has played in every world championship for the U.S. She is married to former NHL player Ray Ferraro, and, during the 2005-06 NHL season, was a rinkside reporter for NBC's NHL coverage. Position: Center
She was dropped from the US National team unexpectedly before the 2006 Olympics in Torino Italy.
