Camp Aguinaldo is the national headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and is located in Quezon City. It is located close to the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP). The camp is named after Emilio Aguinaldo, the first president of the Philippines.
Camp Aguinaldo was established on 11 January 1935 and it was formerly known as Camp Murphy. It was named in honor of Frank Murphy, the last Governor General of the Philippines who subsequently became the first American High Commissioner after the first Philippine Commonwealth Government was established.
In June 1965, by virtue of Republic Act 4434, Camp Murphy was renamed Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo in honor of the first Philippine President.
The camp has a total land area of 178 hectares. It requires a length of 23,104 meters of power lines and 15,030 meters of water lines to address the electrical and water system of the camp respectively.
Likewise, a total length of the camp main thoroughfare roads and road nets extends up to 19,307 meters. This roads provide access to a population of 5,421 personnel living inside Camp Aguinaldo.
Aside from the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, it also serves as the home to the Department of National Defense (DND), National Capital Regional Command (NCRCOM), National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP), Armed Forces Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM), AFP Command and General Staff College (AFPCGSC), Joint Special Operations Group (JSOG) and the Anti-Crime Task Force (ACTAF).
Likewise, other institutions such as the Armed Forces of the Philippines Savings and Loan Association, Inc. (AFPSLAI), Armed Forces of the Philippines Retirement and Separation System (RSBS), Armed Forces of the Philippines Mutual Benefit and Insurance, Inc (AFPMBAI) and AFPGIC are also located in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
