Camp Roosevelt on Sackett Lake in Monticello, New York, was a summer sleepaway camp. It's colors were grey and blue. At one time, it was owned by Charly and Mary Winston. [1]
It was a coeducational camp in the Catskill Mountains and campers enjoyed a variety of activities including athletics, dramatics, arts and crafts, Sing, Intercamp games with neighboring camps and Color War.
Campers were primarily from the New York City metropolitan era and most if not all were Jewish. In the 1950s, Ralph Lauren (then known as Ralph Lipschitz) was a camper and a counselor. [2]
Roosevelt first opened in 1945. When the camp closed in the 1980s, many campers and staff members attended Kutsher's Camp Anawana.
A reunion is scheduled for January 20, 2007 in NYC.
