Cannibal Hymn
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Utterances 273-4, commonly known as the Cannibal Hymn is a verse of the Pyramid Texts. It appears only in the burials of Unas and Teti.
It describes 'swallowing the spirits of the gods' and it has been suggested that this could be the echoes of an extinct funerary practice such as human sacrifice, though there is no evidence for this in Old Kingdom Egypt.
