[edit] The Canton of Bofharrach
The Canton of Bofharrach is a Canton within the Barony of Unser Hafen within the Kingdom of the Outlands, in the Society for Creative Anachronism. It covers large areas of Weld County and parts of Larimer County in Northern Colorado, and mundanely includes the cities: Greeley, Windsor and Johnstown Colorado, as well as many more.
A Celtic phrase meaning 'Meeting place of the Happy Cows', Bofharrach was named for the abundance of bovines in the areas that it encompasses. As a canton within the Barony of Unser Hafen, it has its' own slate of officers who work closely with the Baronial officers; it runs fighter practices (traditionally on Wednesdays), events and populace meetings above and beyond those of the Barony.
[edit] Bofharrach Culture
A 'moo'vi ng Experience
Bofharrach culture is unique within the Kingdom, and the Society itself; it always seems to have a slightly sardonic view of the world. Past events include cow-chip bingo, a black and white ball. Despite the Canton's relaxed nature it has produced some of the 'moo'vers and shakers within the Barony and Kingdom, officers and retinue that play at a Kingdom wide level.
In addition, Bofharrach has several 'unofficial' awards that it gives out; that is, awards that are not officially registered with the College of Arms, and are more tokens of respect. These include Newcomer of the Year, Bofherenghi of the Year, and the Green Man Award (given by the Seneschal to gentles of great service and dignity).
[edit] Current Activities
Currently Bofharrach has a fighter practice and gathering every Wednesday at either Glenmere Park in Greeley, CO (during the warmer months) or Shawsheen elementary school (during the colder months) We have quarter-yearly populace meetings, and a monthly officers meeting.
