Captain is a rank in the British armed forces that is used in the Army [1], Royal Navy, and the Royal Marines — however it is a more senior rank in the Navy than the other services (equivalent to a Colonel in the Army or Marines). In the Royal Air Force, the rank of Group Captain is used, being equivalent to a naval Captain.
