Carl Conroy, otherwise known as 'The Guv'nor' is a professional wrestler based in the UK, who currently resides in Alyth, Perthshire, Scotland.

He was born on 9th October 1978 in Rinteln, Germany.

[edit] CAREER SUMMARY

Carl started his professional wrestling career at Andre Baker's Hammerlock Wrestling in Kent under the name "Cruisin' Carlo S". He had a number of professional matches for Hammerlock, including his debut on 23rd May 1996 at the Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone. His opponent for that first contest was Alex Shane. During his time at Hammerlock, Carl also worked as a manager, managing amongst others Jason The Terrible and The Serial Killer.

After leaving Hammerlock in late 1997, Carl took a year out from wrestling, before returning to the business with Kidderminster-based CCW (Commonwealth Championship Wrestling) in early 1999. After an uneventful period with CCW, Carl branched out and began networking, gaining many more bookings in the process.

In August 1999, Carl wrestled at Melksham Assembly Hall for the first time, a venue he has worked in a great number of times since for the CSF (Combat Sports Federation). With the locals quickly taking a dislike to him due to his arrogant persona and berating of them over the house microphone, Carl soon became the promotion's top villain, often topping the bill in Melksham against local hero and home town boy Stuart 'Eliminator' Natt.

Whilst working for CSF, Carl has met a number of people who have had a great influence on his career, including Colin 'Highlander' McKay, Stuart 'Eliminator' Natt and Mike 'Lionheart' Thomas, all of whom he regards as good friends. Carl also singles out 'Mr Vain' Pete Collins as one of the biggest influences of his career.

In the time since his return in 1999, Carl has gone on to work for a great number of wrestling promotions across Britain, including his own, WILD Promotions (initially called WI*LD) which debuted on 17th October 1999 in Northfield, Birmingham.

After a disappointing debut show for WILD in front of a crowd of 70 people, Carl was determined to promote again and make a success of it. Further shows in the Midlands in 2002 and WILD's Scottish debut in Forfar in 2003 barely broke the three figure mark in terms of attendance, however, with the promotion hitting its lowest ebb in December 2002 in Warminster which saw a five match card take place in front of just 20 people.

2004 saw things take a turn for the better though, as WILD's attendances in Forfar began to grow, with the promotion subsequently branching out and staging live events in Dundee, Stirling, Aberdeen and Montrose in late 2004 and early 2005.

In February 2005, WILD began promoting at the Albert Halls in Stirling, a venue in which their shows and attendances have gradually grown, until reaching a near sell-out in February 2007, with more than 500 people in attendance. Regular live events in Stirling and Forfar, along with having recently secured a holiday camp run for the 2007 season, mean that this looks set to be WILD's biggest and busiest year to date.

In February 2001, Carl visited Western Canada for a month to wrestle for the Calgary, Alberta based Can-Am Wrestling Federation. Joining him on this trip was Justin_Richards, who Carl had known since his days at Hammerlock wrestling. During this tour Carl took on former WWF star Kurrgan whilst Justin Richards spent his time battling the Cuban Assassin, Phil LaFon, Steve Wilde and others.

Carl wrestles mostly in Scotland these days for WILD, W3L (World Wide Wrestling League), BCW (British Championship Wrestling), PBW (Premier British Wrestling), Orig Williams Promotions and various others. He still makes occasional appearances in England for CSF and a few other promotions, however.

Having already had a hand in training many of Scotland's current wrestling stars, Carl also works training the up and coming wrestlers of tomorrow at the W3L's wrestling school in Cowdenbeath.

In addition to his exploits in singles competition, Carl has also been involved in several successful tag teams during his career.

Carl Conroy and Colin 'Highlander' McKay captured the CSF Tag Team Titles from Aaron Young and Nemesis in February 2002.

The 'Bonecrushers' tag team of Carl Conroy and Invincible are the largest tag team in Scotland and current W3L Tag Team Champions, having won the titles from The Tenacious Guns in Dunfermline on 10th March 2007.

Carl Conroy and Justin Richards are collectively known as 'Team England' and have had many heated battles up and down Scotland with the likes of Stu Pendous, Allan Grogan and Spinner McKenzie.
