Carlos Caszely

Carlos Humberto Caszely Garrido (born July 5, 1950 in Santiago) is a former football forward from Chile, who was nicknamed El Chino and/or El Rey del Metro Cuadrado during his professional career. Caszely won 49 caps and scored 29 goals for the Chile national team between 1969 and 1985 and represented them at the 1974 and 1982 World Cups. At the 1974 FIFA World Cup, he was controversially sent off in a first round match against West Germany, becoming the first player ever to receive a red card. Red and yellow cards had already been introduced at the 1970 FIFA World Cup, but no player had been sent off during that tournament. At club level, Caszely played for Colo-Colo (1968-73, 1978-85), Levante UD (1973-74) and RCD Espanyol (1974-78).
