Talk:Cash register

This seems to be duplicating some information at Point of sale. Maybe someone might want to merge the two. --Welshie 13:06, 2004 Oct 3 (UTC)
These are two complete different things. - what you talking about ?
[edit] Tills vs. Registers
What is the difference between a Till and a Register? In the article is says that the term Till is another word for Cash Register. At my place of employment they refer to the removable portion of the cash drawer as the till. This can be seen at a number of sites but one reference is; IBM Cash Drawers and Tills
The term Till also seems to be used interchangeably with the term Cash Register, as written in this Wiki article and one reference example of this is; The Till Shop
- Is this a idiom; a case where the first maker of these machines was a company by the name of Till and now they are called Tills even though they are counting machines or cash registers?
- Is the removable portion of the cash drawer only the Till or is the entire machine a Till?
This is a very minimal part of the entire article but there does seem to be a variety of opinions out there on the topic and I wanted to clear it up. Thankscprockhill
