Talk:Casshern
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
in fact, Shinzo Ningen Casshern anime is born before the movie, so i think all could be included in the same page with properly sections.--Drachen 13:04, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Are you saying you want to Merge Casshan and Casshern? Because if you want to list a notice that you want to merge one page into the other, you can list the template on the pages, and then we can vote on the move. -Maaya 13:54, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Rather than merge, why don't we add differences between the movie and anime so we make the two pages more distinguishable from one another. I added in a few tidbits on Casshern dealing with box office, critical response (somewhat) and the possibility of an American release. Unfortunately I forgot to sign in when I did this, so it's under 70.etc.etc instead of my name. I would like to ask if someone can get the actual box office total for the movie in Japan and perhaps add in more info on how the movie was critically recieved when it was first released.--Wil2197 05:39, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bad movie
This movie was pretty much slammed by critics (the ones that bothered to watch it, I mean). It was a pretty game movie and the artstyle is lovely. I'm a big fan of steam punk too and I LOVED Sky Captain. But the serious critics seem to agree, that this movie is pretty bad. And seeing as Kazuaki Kiriya wrote it, edited it, directed it and just about everything "it", I think it's fair to say this movie stinks of his touch. I mean fans of the old show must have liked it, but that's just what the movie feels like. As if Kiriya was just a fan of it, and he and his friends from college somehow got massive funding to make the movie, except none of them could act. And it really does feel like this is Kiriya's first time at directing, writing and editing, as it feels like all those jobs were done by someone that had never done them before. The cover looked very cool, but the movie was very naff. Anyway, this movie didn't even get enough real reviews to get onto rottentomatos, but I think it deserves a mention somewhere that it was pretty much panned by the industry (ps, fans of the show or anime and such aren't critics. They are fans). JayKeaton 15:38, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- yep i must admit i share your thoughts at first viewing a while ago. bought import dvd for its cool cover... trailer was pretty cool, thought we'll see a war movie with the Free World versus the East but it wasn't. the plot is complex with sometimes three parallel stories happening in different locations in the same time... having the same person doing edit and directing is never good, these jobs are totally different. movie is way too long, 2h16, and the photography is pretty bad if you ask me (all these filters give headache). viewing the movie for the 2nd time i've understood more things to its complicated plot, but the movie is disapointing. music is bad and the young actors are not good. i'd like to cut off the head of this morron mute character... hard to make a such irritating character except Jajar Binx or Gollum. - I thought the movie was awesome, the fight scenes in particular were extremely rad in my opinion. Atomic Duck! 04:50, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- course some scenes were not bad (others are terrible: remember this early scene with the bike? such scenes were more realistic in the 60s). its just HK martial arts wasnt expected from a SciFi movie. i'll not buy dvds for their cover anymore. :) Paris By Night 04:53, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] interpretation?
is it me or this movie's pacifist message is adressed to the US? "you don't know what is war..." "i'll do my duty, its better than cowardice" and all US army footages (Irak) in the end of the movie. its like stop making war in Irak right? you know SCi-Fi is always a metaphor for criticizing the current society. what do you think? its seems the director was too ambitious for a debut movie, a classic mistake. also are the "originals" refering to the ainu? they said they were the original humans, or something, dunno, need to watch the movie again.Paris By Night 04:43, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- The movie had a blatant anti-war message to the US. Unfortunately this caused the movie to be bogged down by its pacifist message that it was unable to contribute much to the overall plot. It's unfortunate, the movie had potential.--Wil2197 20:29, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

- It's not really about irak war. It's about the WW2. The "Original" can be interpreted as "Chinese": The "Ancester" of Japanese People. Maybe this film ist the first step to peace...--88.73.56.97 20:24, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
