[edit] History
CE was founded in 1981 as Centrum voor Energiebesparing or, in English ‘Center for Energy conservation’. In 1982, it published the ‘CE Scenario’, a scenario for an alternative energy supply in the Netherlands for which it soon became well known. Since then, focus has changed away from energy conservation to a diverse portfolio of environmental policy issues. CE has also sought a more international audience, and many of its reports are now written in English. Its 2005 landmark study, “Giving Wings to Emission Trading“ [1] on emission trading for the aviation sector won international recognition in 2005.
