Welcome to my user page! Please add your messages below and I will try to reply as soon as I can. Please, translate articles from Wikipedia to Wicipedia Cymraeg, if you are a confident Welsh speaker!
Hi, it's great that you want to translate the article Syllable into Welsh! However, there is a separate Wikipedia project for Welsh at http://cy.wikipedia.org/. The proper place to start a Welsh article on the syllable is at http://cy.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sillaf (article titles are conventionally in the singular, not the plural). You'll have to log in separately there; just use the same user name and password. Once the Welsh article is in place, come back to Syllable and add a link saying [[cy:Sillaf]] toward the bottom (add it between [[cs:Slabika]] and [[de:Silbe]]. User:Angr 15:29, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What on earth?
... was this query all about? Article seems to be most definitely still there by all accounts. Chris cheese whine 13:59, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Something to do with the closedown screen (little 'c', little 's') being so insignificant on the grand scale of things as to not merit its own article. Hope this helps. Chris cheese whine 20:22, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cyfieithu Erthyglau
Er mwyn cyfieithu erthyglau, dilyna beth mae Angr yn dweud uchod. Hynny yw, mae'r Wicipedia Cymraeg yn brosiect gwahanol i'r Wikipedia Saesneg, ond maent yn caniatau cysylltiadau rhyngddynt. Felly bydd angen cyfrif arall arnat ar gyfer y Wicipedia Cymraeg. Galli di greu erthyglau yn y fan honno. Er mwyn cysylltu i'r erthygl Saesneg o erthygl Cymraeg, rho [[en:Name of article]] ar waelod y dudalen. I greu dolen i'r erthygl Gymraeg o'r un Saesneg, rho [[cy:Enw'r erthygl]] ar waelod y dudalen, gan newid 'Name of article' ac 'Enw'r erthygl' i'r enwau cywir.
Dwi ddim wedi gwylio y Byd ar Bedwar ers sbel nawr felly dwi ddim yn siwr os dwi'n gallu creu erthygl digonol. Gofynna yng Nghaffi'r Wicipedia Cymraeg efallai.
Pob hwyl! Gareth 14:28, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] S4C notable programmes
You asked, Wouldn't you agree that programmes such as Con Passionate and Cowbois ac Injans which have won awards, deserve an article and a link from the S4C main article just like any other notable programme? However I do agree than an article about S4C Closedown Screen (which has now been deleted by someone??) is a little unnecessary because it isn't very notable.
I would. I presume you are referring to my comments on Talk:S4C. Note that I wrote those in September, when at least one of the articles you are talking about didn't even exist. What did exist was an immensely long list, largely of kids' television which added very little to the S4C page. They were hardly representative. We cannot list every single programme a television channel shows/has shown on the main article for the channel. We have to be selective. If you had to pick three (or five, or fifteen) programmes as examples of S4C, would you really pick Santa's First Christmas or Hollyoaks? Rocky Hollow? Starhill Ponies? (Yes, all in English.) They are examples of what I was commenting about at the time.
Just one more thing. I see you add your comments to talk pages at the top. The convention on Wikipedia is generally to add new sections at the end of a page. If you add them at the top, people will miss them, because that's not where they look first.

- I did not say that you added any of those links to the article. I said they were examples of what was there. As to your question about uploading images to improve article quality, I am not at all knowledgeable on images on Wikipedia. But you might start at Wikipedia:Image use policy. There is a much larger collection of links available at Help:Contents/Images and media. You will need to understand the copyright and licencing issues before uploading anything. It's worth knowing that images you upload onto en.wikipedia can only be used here on en.wikipedia. If you want to upload an image so that any language wikipedia can use it (and perhaps cy.wikipedia may want to), then you need to upload things onto the commons:, from where any language wikipedia may include it. (See commons:Welcome for more.) I find the whole upload process quite tedious and so have contributed a grand total of one image despite having quite a few more that might be useful. [edit] What if?
(Copied from User talk:Picapica) –
I'm referring to your comment on the Sign-off (broadcast) discussion page. 'The article, as it stands, should either be moved to Sign-off (television) or rewritten to include information about radio closedown procedures.' I agree with what you are saying but does an article about Sign-off (radio) exist? Also, would it be necessary to have two sign-off pages, one about radio and one about television? Cepb 20:14, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments, Cepb. No, there is no "Sign-off (radio)" article – and probably shouldn't be, IMHO. I was just making the point that in many Wp articles purporting to be about "broadcasting" radio is forgotten.
- It would be nice to have the present article beginning with a short introduction explaining the general idea of (AmE) sign-off / (BrE) closedown followed by two sections: one on radio closedown routines (which, after all, came first!) followed by another on television practices.
- I was testing the waters, before doing anything along those lines myself, to see if there was any support for my idea of expanding the article to take in radio. You are, of course, most welcome to pre-empt me! Diolch o flaen llaw... -- Picapica 20:46, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
