The certified risk manager designation is fairly new to the insurance risk management world. Currently (2007) there are less than 2000 CRM's world wide. Risk Managementment is an ever growing field of work, and it dovetails from the world of insurance.
The risk management process is five fold, and many scholars of this field would argue as to which are the correct, but for the most of us, it can be broken down as follows;
Contents |
[edit] -Indentification
The process of identifying exposures (whether financial, social, physical, juridical, polictical, or otherwise) that face our organization.
[edit] -Analyze
Determine how these exposures impact or could impact the organization.
[edit] -Control
Determine how to control these exposures by eliminating them or reducing their effect.
[edit] -Finance
The step where it is determined how will these exposures be dealt with as they arive? Through insurance premiums paid in advance, or through internal funds, etc.
[edit] -Administration
The final step in the process is to put all the above work togther into practice, and ultimately to start over.
