Chandrika Prasad Srivastava

Chandrika Prasad Srivastava KCMG is a retired Indian civil servant and international administrator and diplomat.
He started his career as a civil servant in India, serving as the district administrator in Meerut and Lucknow, and then went on to the post of Joint Secretary to the Indian Prime Minister's office of the late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri from 1964-1966.
Srivastava become the first chief executive of the Shipping Corporation of India and in 1971 was elected to serve as the secretary-general of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a United Nations agency based in London. Srivastava served four successive terms at the IMO from 1971 to 1989. During this time he took a pioneering role in the establishment of the World Maritime University in Sweden, the International Maritime Academy [1] in Italy, and the International Maritime Law Institute [2] in Malta.
In recognition of his service and contribution to World shipping, Srivastava was conferred, by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, the honorary title of ‘knight commander of the most distinguished order of St. Michael and St. George’. In addition to this award there are a number of others including the Padma Bhushan in 1972 in recognition of his contributions to establishing one of the most successful public sector undertakings in India; and in 2005 he was awarded the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration and Management Sciences [3] by the President of India, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
C.P Srivastava is married to Nirmala Srivastava and has two daughters, Kalpana Srivastava[4] and Sadhana Varma[5].
