The Changeling (real name Kevin Sydney) is a Marvel Comics character, and a member of the X-Men. Created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Werner Roth, he first appeared in X-Men #35 (August 1967).
The Changeling was a mutant shapeshifter. He was a short-lived X-Men adversary who, off-panel, joined the Professor X’s efforts and died shortly after.
In the 1990s, he was reinvented as Morph in the X-Men animated series, which led to versions of the character being revived in the “Age of Apocalypse” alternate reality storyline and the series Exiles.

[edit] Fictional character biography
The Changeling originally worked for the villainous organization Factor Three. Following that group's defeat he reformed and unbeknownst to the X-Men was recruited by Professor X to replace him while he isolated himself to prepare for his fight against the alien Z'Nox.[1] The Changeling, masquerading as Professor X, was killed in battle shortly after.[2] However, the X-Men thought it was actually Professor X who had died and did not find out until later that it was in fact Changeling[3]
[edit] Powers and abilities
Changeling is a mutant with the ability to alter his physical appearance at will to resemble that of any person he chooses. He also has limited telepathic abilities which (in the original timeline) were enhanced by Professor X. As a side effect he also gained limited telekinetic abilities[citation needed]. He is also a skilled actor.

[edit] Age of Apocalypse
Changeling appears as a member of the X-Men in the Age of Apocalypse. He is known as Morph and is constantly comedic to hide his pain and suffering.
[edit] In other media
The character of Changeling, renamed as "Morph" for copyright reasons, appears in the X-Men animated series. In the series, he was seemingly killed, but later revealed to be alive and out for revenge against the X-Men. He later rejoined the X-Men team. Due to the popularity of the animated series, several alternate versions of the character in the comics also used the name "Morph".
