Charles J. Cooper

Charles J Cooper is an appellate attorney and litigator in Washington, D.C., and the senior partner in the law firm of Cooper & Kirk. Early in his career, he was a law clerk for eventual United States Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist when he was an Associate Justice. During the Reagan Administration, he served as a United States Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel. In that capacity, he worked with Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Samuel Alito.
He graduated in 1977 from the University of Alabama Law School.
He was named by The National Law Journal as one of the 10 best civil litigators in Washington.
